MIchael Brown (Motoring Journalist)

Postby davem1 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:38 pm

I am trying to find any relatives of Mr Michael Brown who was born and lived in Berkshire until the 1960s. He is thought to have lived near Yattendon around 1949 to the early 1950s. Possibly lived 'somewhere off the Bath Road'.
Served in the Navy in WWII. Wife possibly Doreen or Dorothy. He wrote for 'The Autocar' magazine (as it was then called) from about 1936 - 1960. Possibly left to go into Insurance industry after 1960. Would have been possibly born around 1908-1910 or so. He wrote about many cars including the MG Y type saloon and RM Riley. He was a keen photographer and it would be interesting to see if any of his photos survive. Some of his articles (e,g 'Weekend and a Quarter' and 'Making the Grades') have been republished on the MG Y Type Register website at www.mgytypes.org
