The almshouse at Donnington, near Newbury, has a long and chequered history. I am looking for data sources on this. None have so far been located in the County Record Office in Reading and the Donnington hospital trust say they have no records.
Can anybody throw any light on the whereabouts of records from the sixteenth century onwards?

I would guess that there will be records at TNA and probably some in private hands, The Hospital is largely a family run trust that has been in the same family for centuries and they still hold the family archive.
If you check out the references in the entry for the Hospital in the Berkshire VCH or other scholarly works (there is one I know of in an old issue of the Transactions of the Newbury District Field Club) you should get some idea of where the records are. There is also Cecilia Milson's book on the Hospital - but I can't remember how well that is referenced.
