We visited Ankerwycke this morning, mainly to see the snowdrops & whilst there I got talking to a man who told me that there was a house on the site, now demolished. I noticed evidence of a past habitation on our walk, a bridge, pieces of masonry etc,. Would this have been Ankerwycke House, demolished in the late 70's? I've tried to find out some info from the internet but very little is given regarding the house/manor. Is there any book/publication that might help me please?
